Funeral of Maria Lacasse, supercentenarian from Qubec

The Gerontology Research Group (GRG) is joined in pain with loved ones in connection with the funeral of Maria Lacasse, who passed away in Chertsey, Quebec, Canada , on February 21 2025, aged 111 years, 77 days. Funeral was held on May 3 2025 at St. Noël Chabanel Church.
Maria Lacasse was born in Chertsey, Lanaudière, Quebec, Canada on 6 December 1913. Her mother’s name was Celina Lacasse (née Desrochers) and she had at least six siblings. She spent her youth in Saint-Calixte, Quebec, and moved to Montreal at the age of 18. She married Octave Moisan in 1941 and had two sons, Pierre and Richard.
In December 2023, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian. As of her 110th birthday, she remained lucid and was still able to walk, and said she planned on reaching ages 111 and 112.
Maria Lacasse lived at CHSLD Saint-Michel nursing home in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She was the second-oldest known living person in the province of Quebec after Margaret Romans.
Maria passed away in Quebec on February 21 2025, aged 111 years, 77 days.
