Oldest known living man in the United States turns 110
The GRG is delighted to announce the 110th birthday of Edward “Ed” George Martin. Ed was born February 15 1915 in Baltimore, Maryland, USA to Charles and Ida Martin. Ha had an older brother named Charles (1907-1981).
Ed married Esther Laverne Smith and they went on to have two children together – Janice and Norman. Ed joined the Baltimore County Fire Department in 1943 and worked there until he retired in 1964. After this, Ed and Esther moved to Florida to enjoy retirement. Sadly, Esther passed away on January 7 2004, leaving Ed a widower.
Ed continues to live in Florida and reportedly remains in reasonable health. He became the oldest documented man in the US upon the sad passing of Eugene Baltes (110) on December 29 2024.
The GRG recognizes Edwin Martin as the oldest documented man in the United States and was accepted as validated today; February 15 2025.
