Andrés Irizarry Troche, Puerto Rico’s oldest living man, dies at 109

The Gerontology Research Group is saddened to report news that Mr. Andrés Irizarry Troche, the oldest living man in Puerto Rico, sadly passed away in Jagüey, Rincón, Puerto Rico on 11 December 2024 at the age of 109 years, 301 days.


Andrés Irizarry Troche was born in Hormigueros, Puerto Rico, on 14 February 1915. At some point, he married Valentina Vargas Soto, and the couple had nine children.

On 25 April 2024, following the passing of 109-year-old Silverio Pérez Rosado, he became the oldest iving man in Puerto Rico.

Following his death, the new oldest living man in Puerto Rico is 108-year-old Manuel Martínez Milán (born 18 June 1916) of Toa Baja, Puerto Rico.
