Clara Sutton (1901-2012) validation

The GRG announces today the age validation of Clara Depew Sutton. Clara was born March 14th 1901 in Rockingham County, (most likely the town of Wentworth, where she spent most of her life) North Carolina, USA. She was the oldest child of James and Annie Sutton. Her mother’s health was reportedly poor, so Clara ended up doing much of the raising of the younger siblings. As such, she never married or had children. She lived in the same house her parents had owned in Wentworth for her whole life, until moving into a nursing home in her final years. She died there, in Reidsville, Rockingham County, aged 111 years, 165 days, on August 26th 2012.

Clara’s age was verified by Anson Davis, et al, later accepted by the GRG as valid with a retroactive date of August 20th 2016.
