Biography

Salustiano Sanchez was born in the village of El Tejado de Bejar, Castile and Leon, Spain, on 8 June 1901 (claimed 1902[3]). He self-learnt Dulzaina as he grew up, he would play it when he was young to earn pocket money. He attended school until age 10. At the age of 17, he moved to Cuba for work. Salustiano traveled to the United States through Ellis Island in August 1920, working in the coal mines of Lynch, Kentucky. Later he moved to Niagra Falls in New York where he died. He married his wife Pearl (1906–1988) in 1934, and had two children, a son named John and a daughter named Irene. Both were living at the time of his death, John was 73 (b. 1940), Irene was 69 (b. 1944). He was the 22nd-oldest living person and is currently the 43rd oldest validated man ever.

Salustiano Sanchez died in Niagara Falls, New York, USA, on 13 September 2013, at the age of 112 (claimed 111) years, 97 days[4].
