Biography
Gloria Maria Mercedes Diaz-Quijano Olivares (known as Maria) was born on June 27 1898 in San Javier, Chile, to parents Francisco Diaz Quijano and Jovita Olivares.
She married Oscar Gutierrez when she was 27, but he sadly passed away within two months of the wedding. Maria then married again when she was 37, but she outlived this husband also. Later in life, in 1971, Maria married for a third time. She outlived all her husbands and had no children.
In June 2008 Maria celebrated her 110th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian.
She passed away on December 4 2012, aged 114 years, 160 days, in Santiago, Chile. Maria is the oldest person ever to be born or die in Chile. She was also the oldest living person in Chile before her passing.
