Biography

Luise Philippine Pompe was born in Chernivtsi, Bukovina, Austria-Hungary (now a part of the Ukraine), on October 13 1908.

She never married or had children.

In her working life Luise was a teacher and librarian, retiring in 1970.

In October 2018 she celebrated her 110th birthday, gaining status as a supercentenarian.

Luise passed away in Vienna, Austria, on November 11 2022, aged 114 years, 29 days. She had remained in her own apartment, with help, until the end.
