Biography
Luis de Jesus Cano Vasquez was born in San Jose, Andes, Antioquia, Colombia, on December 9 1914 to parents Leocadio Cano and Ana Rita Vasquez. He was baptized there on December 12 of the same year.
In 1948 he married his wife, Alicia, in Colombia, going on to have a reported ten children together. The couple moved to the US in 1990, living in New York initially. Alicia passed away in 2004 and Luis never remarried.
After his wife’s passing, he moved to New Jersey, where he was to remain. In December 2024 he became a supercentenarian on turning 110.
Luis passed away in Linden, Union County, New Jersey, on June 15 2026, aged 111 years, 188 days.
