Launa Johnson was born in Plainfield, Union County, New Jersey, on May 23 1913 to parents Berg and Annie Johnson.
On September 4 1937 she married John Douglas Mitchell in New Jersey. They moved to California at some point after 1950.
Later in life they moved back to New Jersey.
In May 2023, Launa turned 110, gaining supercentenarian status. Her 110th birthday was the last time she was confirmed alive.
