Biography
Joan Edith Lewis was born on March 10 1912 in Barnet, Middlesex, England, to parents Henry and Edith Lewis.
In 1925 the family moved to Australia. Joan then moved to New Zealand for a short period, before returning to the UK. She married Thomas G Brennan in Lancashire in 1937, going on to have three children together. They then moved permanently to New Zealand. Thomas passed away in 1998, after which Joan never remarried.
Joan passed away in Auckland, New Zealand, on July 29 2022, aged 110 years, 141 days. She had been the oldest known living person in New Zealand before her death.
