Biography

Jessie Beatrice Henry was born on June 17 1883 (claimed June 17 1882) in Peel, Wellington County, Ontario, Canada, to parents John Charles Henry and Mary Hathaway.

On October 12 1909 she married Robert Grant Fraser in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The family had been living in Nova Scotia since at least 1901. Jessie and Robert went on to have at least two children together – both of which she outlived.

In June 1992, Jessie turned 110 (claimed 111), becoming a supercentenarian.

She was last confirmed alive on her 111th (claimed 112th) birthday in June 1994.

DR. JOHN HAMM: Mr. Speaker, I hereby give notice that on a future day I shall move the adoption of the following resolution: 

Whereas Mrs. Jessie Fraser is Pictou County’s oldest resident; and 
Whereas today is Mrs. Jessie Fraser’s 112th birthday; 

Therefore be it resolved that this House extend its best wishes to Mrs. Jessie Fraser of New Glasgow. 

Mr. Speaker, I would request waiver of notice on this motion. MR. SPEAKER: There has been a request for waiver of notice.
