Biography
James Monroe King was born in Independence County, Arkansas, USA, on November 15 1854 to parents William E and Annie (nee Slaughter) King.
By 1870 he had moved to Missouri with two brothers. By 1878 James was living in Louisiana. He married Clara Louise Brinsfield there in Franklin Parish on May 30 1878. They went on to have ten children together before Clara passed away on May 12 1928. James never married again.
In November 1964 he celebrated his 110th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian.
James passed away in Winnsboro, Franklin Parish, Louisiana, on June 5 1967, aged 112 years, 202 days. He had been the oldest known and age-validated living man in the world before his passing.
