Biography

Ivory Ross was born on September 16 1901 in Warren, Bradley County, Arkansas, USA, to parents George and Maggie Ross.

In September 1917, on her 16th birthday (claimed 18th), she married Lee Lambert in Ouachita, Arkansas, going on to have four children together. Lee sadly died in January 1971, after which Ivory never remarried.

In 2009 she celebrated her claimed 110th birthday (actually 108th). In September 2011 she celebrated her claimed 112th birthday (actually 110th), becoming a supercentenarian.

On October 10 2012 Ivory passed away in Fordyce, Arkansas, aged 111 years, 24 days (claimed 113 years, 24 days).

Age conclusion

Ivory claimed birth on September 16 1899, which was even backed up by several documents. But reviewing the earliest documents, Ivory does not appear in the 1900 census with her parents – she even had a sister enumerated there that was born in October 1899. Ivory is first seen in the 1910 census with her maternal grandparents, aged 9, tying in with birth in September 1901. 1901 is also supported by some other documents. The GRG decided to validate Ivory’s date of birth as September 16 1901 based on all of the evidence gathered.
