Biography

Friedrich Reichenstein was born on February 1 1906 in Herne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany to parents Max Reichenstein and Laura Reinharz.

In 1936, he married Sarah Lewi in Palestine, going on to have three children together. Sarah passed away in 1963, after which Friedrich married Sigrid Sälzer in 1968.

In February 2016 he celebrated his 110th birthday, becoming a supercentenarian. He remains one of only two supercentenarians to pass away in Israel.

Friedrich was last confirmed alive at the beginning of June 2017 in Tel Aviv, Israel, at the age of 111.
