Biography
Delina Ecker was born in Stark, Herkimer County, New York, USA, on May 4 1815 to parents Wilhelm (“William”) and Susannah (nee Harwick) Ecker. Her birth was recorded in a family bible.
On February 19 1834 she married John D Filkins in Jordanville, Herkimer County, going on to have six children together. John passed away on June 2 1890, after which Delina never remarried.
In May 1925 she became a supercentenarian on celebrating her 110th birthday.
Delina passed away in Richfield Springs, Richfield, Otsego County, New York, on December 4 1928 at the age of 113 years, 214 days. She was the oldest known and age-validated living person in the world before her passing, as well as the first known person to reach the ages of 112 and 113.
