William Andrew James (known as “Bill”) was born in Lincoln, Addison County, Vermont, USA, on July 5 1911 to parents Vernon Dayton and Rena (nee York) James.
On December 31 1945 he married Mable Jeannette Lucia in Burlington, Chittenden County, Vermont. They had three children together. Mable sadly passed away on July 23 2009, leaving Bill a widower for his remaining years.
In July 2021 he became a supercentenarian on turning 110.
Bill passed away as the first and only male supercentenarian in Vermont on October 24 2021 at the age of 110 years, 111 days.
