Biography

Tane Komine was born in Ranzan, Saitama Prefecture, Japan on 18 March 1893. In March 2003, she celebrated her 110th birthday. At the age of 110, she was said to be the world’s oldest gateball player.

Komine’s age was verified by Nobuko Endo and MHLW, Japan, and validated by the GRG on 15 September 2004.

Tane Komine died in Tamagawa, Saitama Prefecture, Japan at 1:19 a.m. on 6 April 2005, at the age of 112 years, 19 days. She was the oldest validated person who ever died in Saitama Prefecture, until her age was surpassed by Hana Shindo on 18 November 2013.
