Biography
Nobu Kawano was born in Omitama, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan on 28 March 1911. She was the fifth of nine children. She got married at the age of 21 and had five children.
On 28 March 2021, Kawano celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
As of September 2023, Kawano still participated in activities at her care home, and enjoyed interacting with people around her and eating meals with the other residents. Her son Yutaka Kawano was 91 years old as of 2024. At the age of 113, she can still use chopsticks and eats a wide variety of foods.
On 9 July 2024, folowing the death of 114-year-old Masa Matsumoto, Kawano became the oldest living person in Kanagawa Prefecture.
Nobu Kawano currently lives in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan at the age of 113.
