Biography
Matilda D’Souza was born on 25 October 1911 in Calangute, Goa, India (then a Portuguese colony). In 1973, she became the first president of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SSVP) in Calangute.
On her 110th birthday in 2021, D’Souza was visited by members of Village Panchayat Calangute, including Shawn Martins.
She became the oldest known living person in Goa and India following the death of 112-year-old Lourdina Conceicao Lobo on 3 November 2021.
Matilda D’Souza died in Calangute, Goa, India on 17 September 2023 at the age of 111 years, 327 days.
