In a heartening turn of events, on 17 December 2020, Mary Keir became one of the first care home residents in Wales to receive the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine against COVID-19.

Mary Keir’s journey has been marked by milestones and recognition within the supercentenarian community.

Celebrating her 110th birthday in March 2022, Mary Keir stands today as the fourth-oldest known living person in the United Kingdom, a living testament to the strength and grace that a life well-lived can bring.

Longevity Recognition

As life unfolded, Mary Keir emerged as the oldest known living person in Wales, claiming the title after the passing of Amy Hawkins on September 9, 2021. Additionally, she became the oldest known living person born in Wales, succeeding Mollie Walker on January 22, 2022.

As of her 111th birthday, Mary Keir was the fifth-oldest known living person in the United Kingdom, behind Ethel Caterham, Ada ThompsonEdna Strickland, and Mary Florence Walker.
