Biography
Mary Gwendoline “Gwen” Moore claimed to have been born in Tredegar, Wales, United Kingdom on 27 November 1911. However, the study performed by the Gerontology Research Group has proven that her actual date of birth was 2 December 1911. In the late 1960s, she migrated from the UK to Australia.
She became the oldest known living person in Australia, following the death of 111-year old Ina Reid on 13 May 2022.
Her sister Lilian Priest (1908–2021) who died in Swanage, Dorset, England, UK on 6 June 2021 at the age of 112 years, 211 days, was the oldest living person in the United Kingdom at the time of her death.
Gwen Moore died at the Bribie Cove nursing home in Bongaree, Queensland, Australia on 31 March 2023 at the age of 111 years, 119 days.
