Biography
Marie Behenska was born in Blatna, Austria-Hungary (now Blatna, South Bohemia, Czech Republic) on 2 April 1905. She grew up in a lawyer’s family and her husband was also a lawyer. At the age of 110, she had a daughter, two grandchildren, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
She became the oldest known living person in Czech Republic, following the death of 109-year-old Vlastimila Ceskova on 7 January 2015. In April 2015, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
Marie Behenska died in Plzen, Plzen Region, Czech Republic on 20 May 2015 at the age of 110 years, 48 days. Following her death, then 107-year-old Bedriska Koehlerova became the oldest known living person in the Czech Republic.
