Lucienne Moreau, born Lucienne Leclerc in Aize, Indre, Centre-Val de Loire, France on 25 October 1912, has woven a remarkable tapestry of a century-plus of life.
Married to Raymond Moreau until 1980, Lucienne’s journey is one marked by strength and simple joys. Despite challenges, she continued to embrace life, enjoying chocolate, socializing with others, and engaging in activities like sewing and bicycle riding, the latter halted at 94 after a fall.
In 2016, a move to a retirement home became necessary, a testament to Lucienne’s resilience and her commitment to adapting to life’s transitions. Her story is one of tenacity, showcasing her ability to find joy in everyday moments.
With six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, Lucienne’s family has been an integral part of her journey. Notably, her great-grandniece, Mona-Cannelle Beguin, was crowned Miss Indre in September 2021.
As Lucienne celebrated her 110th birthday in October 2022, the world celebrated her resilience and the rich legacy she carries.
She became the oldest known living person in Centre-Val de Loire, following the death of 112-year-old Andree Guyon on 25 November 2023.
Lucienne Moreau died at the nursing home de la Chaume in Issoudun, Indre, Centre-Val de Loire, France on 22 June 2024 at the age of 111 years, 241 days.
