Biography

Kristianna Ullaland was born in Vestlandet, Norway on 2 December 1878 to the farmer Nils Ulleland (1838-1921) and Sofia Grimset (1835-1920). She had two siblings: Maria Ulleland (1865-?) and Kristoffer Ulleland (1860-1941).

She married Andreas Kleiva (born 1880) in 1904. Following common tradition, he changed his last name to Ullaland when they took over the farm from her parents in 1908. The couple had two children: Tomina (1905-?) and Maria (1908-?)

Andreas died 1972 at the age of 92.

Kristianna Ullaland was the third supercentenarian in history of Norway. She became the second-oldest living person in the country after Maren Bolette Torp. For the second time in Norwegian history there were two simultaneously living supercentenarians in Norway.

Ullaland died in Vestlandet, Norway on 26 January 1989 at the age of 110 years, 55 days. At the time of her death, she was the oldest person ever from Vestlandet. Her Vestlandet longevity record was broken by Laura Svehaug in 1997.
