Biography
Irena Śmiałowska was born in Russian Empire (now Poland) on 27 March 1908. For many years she was the director of the communal library in Sanniki. She was an aunt of a famous Polish actor Daniel Olbrychski.
On 27 March 2018, she turned 110 years old. At the time, she was the fourth-oldest living person in Poland and the oldest resident of Masovia Voivodeship.
After the death of 111-year old Czesława Łasiewicz on 29 May 2018, Śmiałowska became the third-oldest living person in Poland. In October 2018, she was visited by Wacław Jan Kroczek, GRG Correspondent for Poland and Nordic Countries. This visit was pivotal After the death of 110-year old Maria Roszak on 16 November 2018, she became the second-oldest living person in Poland.
On 27 March 2019, Śmiałowska celebrated her 111th birthday being the third person in the history of Masovia Voivodeship to have reached this age.
Irena Śmiałowska passed away in Legionowo, Masovia Voivodeship, Poland, three days after, on 30 March 2019, at the age of 111 years, 3 days.
