Biography

Ine Tsugawa was born in Koyadaira, Tokushima, Japan on 3 April 1875. Her oldest son, Shoichi was aged 67 in 1986.

The Minister of Health and Welfare (MHLW) in Japan reported her as the oldest living person in Japan following the death of 120-year-old Shigechiyo Izumi on 21 February 1986. However, because Izumi’s age is disputed, she is considered to have become the oldest living person in Japan on 10 February 1984, following the death of 110-year-old Momu Okuma.

Ine Tsugawa died in Koyadaira, Tokushima, Japan on 21 May 1986 at the age of 111 years, 48 days.
