Biography

Hanna Eriksson was born in Långlet, Dalarna Lan, Sweden on 26 February 1891. She started working at an ammunition factory in Karlsborg when she was 16 years old. In 1917, she married Ivar Eriksson and raised her two kids. Ivar died in 1972.

She was very active, biking and riding a moped. Her hearing, however, was much worse. At age 110, Hanna could hardly hear anything and rarely spoke. Sven Eriksson, her son, often had to write down questions for his mother on a piece of paper. And sometimes he got a witty response.

Hanna Eriksson died in Söderköping, Söderköping kommun, Östergötland län, Sweden on 26 June 2001 at the age of 110 years, 120 days. She was the oldest Swedish person to never be Sweden’s oldest living person, since her life coincided with that of Elsa Moberg.
