Biography

Gudrun Onshuus was born in Hamar, Norway on 17 july 1899. Her mother was Jessie Omdahl (1869–1946) and her father was Marcus Omdahl (1863–1917)

She attended boarding school in Newcastle for one year. And after that, she worked as a private secratary for her uncle Olav. Olav and Gudrun’s father owned the leather factory “Marcus & Ewald Omdahl” in Drammen, where she worked as office workers until she retired 1965.

Gudrun Onshuus married Alf Onshuus (1900–1948) in 1925, but became a widow in when he died in 1948.

She lived in Drammen most of her life. At the time she was 103 years old, she moved into the Fjellbo care home, where she lived the rest of her life.

Gudrun Onshuus died in Drammen, Norway on 9 june 2010 at the age of 110 years, 327 days.

Gudrun Onshuus was the oldest woman in Norway at the time of her death at the age of 110. Upon her passing, she was the last surviving Norwegian person who was born in the 1800s.
