Biography
Alava Jimenez was born in Cascante, Navarre, Spain on 3 August 1910, the oldest of three siblings. She worked as farmer.
She married Martin Huete Miramon and had two children: Rosario (aged 88 in 2021) and Carmen Huete (born 6 August 1934). She got widowed in 1970. She lived alone until age 97, when she moved to live with her daughter, Carmen Huete.
There was also a history of longevity in her family: her parents lived to be 80 and her two brothers died at age 90 and 80 respectively.
On 3 April 2021 at age 110, Alava Jimenez received her first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. Her daughter Carmen also received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. On 24 April 2021, she received her second dose, together with her daughter.
At the age of 111, she is still able to walk without help. As of August 2021, she had seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She lived with her daughter Carmen Huete Alava [Spanish: Álava].
In December 2021, she suffered a fall at home from which she no longer recovered.
Alava Jimenez died in Cascante, Navarre, Spain on 21 December 2021 at the age of 111 years, 140 days. At the time of her death, she was the oldest known living person in Navarre and the sixth-oldest known living person in Spain, behind Maria Branyas Morera, Saturnino de la Fuente Garcia, Josefa San Roman Mateos, Maria Luisa Vazquez de Silva and Silveria Martin Diaz.
