Biography
Aline Blain, born as Aline Bongard in Tulette, Drome, Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, France on August 10, 1911, was the second of four children to parents who owned a farm with an oil mill in Tulette. She married Marcel Blain, and the couple had a single daughter named Nicole, who was 76 years old in 2022.
Blain held a teaching credential in Montelimar and worked as a teacher in various villages within the Drome and Vaucluse departments. Her love for gardening persisted until she reached the age of 90. In 2002, she moved to the Beau Soleil residence, and in 2013, she relocated to the EHPAD Beau Soleil.
Even at the age of 108, Aline Blain was reported to be in good health with a strong memory, still able to play cards without the need for glasses. When asked about turning 110 in July 2021, she expressed her indifference, saying, “It leaves me quite cold. I would like to have a bit fewer years. But regarding health, I’m not that bad.”
In August 2021, she celebrated her 110th birthday, marking her entry into supercentenarian status. At this age, she enjoyed reading the magazine Paris Match, and her daughter Nicole visited her almost daily.
On August 24, 2023, the Gerontology Research Group announced on the World Supercentenarian Forum that Blain had received pending status, and her age was fully validated on September 25, 2023.
As of the most recent available information, Aline Blain resides in Valreas, Vaucluse, Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur, France. She is currently the oldest known living person in the Vaucluse department and holds the title of the oldest known living person in Provence-Alpes-Cote-d’Azur.
