The validation of Margarete Tröstl, 112, as the Longevity Recordholder of Austria
The Gerontology Research Group is delighted to announce the validation of Mrs. Margarete Tröstl, Doyenne of Austria.
Margarete Tröstl was born on 26 February 1911 in Gmünd, Austria-Hungary (now located in Lower Austria, Austria). Her professional journey led her through various chapters, from ‘Bobbin’ to a distinguished role as a travel assistant in the Persil plants for an impressive 35 years. Love found her in the cozy ambiance of the ‘Schneider’ coffeehouse in Gmund, leading to a beautiful family with the birth of her son Horst. The family eventually moved to Vienna before Margarete Tröstl returned to her native roots upon retirement. Margarete Tröstl has lived in the PBZ Schrems since 2014, where she is known for her humor. She revealed her tips for a long life on her 105th birthday: “Be happy, laugh, don’t smoke, drink little – and enjoy the roast pork.”
Margarete Tröstl was verified by Stefan Jamin, Thomas Breining, Oliver Trim, and Waclaw Jan Kroczek, and validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) as of November 30, 2023.
Upon this validation, Mrs. Margarete Tröstl becomes the officially recognized longevity recordholder of Austria; the oldest validated person in history of this Alpine country.
